{"id":2404,"date":"2018-05-04T17:08:04","date_gmt":"2018-05-04T17:08:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cantruck.ca\/nacfe-releases-first-guidance-report-on-electric-vehicles\/"},"modified":"2025-01-10T16:48:28","modified_gmt":"2025-01-10T16:48:28","slug":"nacfe-releases-first-guidance-report-on-electric-vehicles","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cantruck.ca\/fr\/nacfe-releases-first-guidance-report-on-electric-vehicles\/","title":{"rendered":"NACFE Releases First Guidance Report on Electric Vehicles"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The North American Council for Freight Efficiency (NACFE) released its first Guidance Report<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe purpose of this Guidance Report \u2014 the first such report from NACFE \u2014 is to bring some clarity and insights into the complex topic of the viability of commercial battery electric vehicles,\u201d said Mike Roeth, executive director of NACFE.<\/p>\n<p>As Truck News reports, the report points out 10 common arguments for and against electric battery vehicles and delves into those positions to assess the viability for them in the North American market. Arguments for, include CBEV weight is not an issue, maintenance is less costly, and will last beyond 10 years. Arguments against electric trucks include technology is not ready, vehicle life is too short, and vehicle purchase price is too high to see a return on investment.<\/p>\n<p>According to Rick Mihelic, director future technologies studies at NACFE, the study found that: \u201cCBEVs and diesel engines are at different points on their innovation S-curves, but CBEVs have a greater potential for additional innovation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The report also found that: \u201cCBEVs are not the choice for every application or market, yet they will likely have an increasing role in the commercial vehicle market and in freight transportation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The likely early adopters, according to the report, are urban delivery Classes 3-6.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere are many predictions about electrification.
