Included, reports Fleet Owner magazine, was a section into a $1 billion, 10-year infrastructure plan which calls for easing federal tolling restrictions and private investment into rest areas.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe administration\u2019s goal is to seek long-term reforms on how infrastructure projects are regulated, funded, delivered, and maintained. Providing more federal funding, on its own, is not the solution to our infrastructure challenges,\u201d the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/sites\/whitehouse.gov\/files\/omb\/budget\/fy2018\/fact_sheets\/2018%20Budget%20Fact%20Sheet_Infrastructure%20Initiative.pdf\">White House wrote in a fact sheet<\/a> included with the budget.<\/p>\n<p>Among the funding proposals was one to \u201cliberalize tolling policy and allow private investment in rest areas.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The American Trucking Associations\u00a0was troubled with the proposal.<\/p>\n<p>\u201dWhile ATA is encouraged by the apparent focus on infrastructure investment . . . we are deeply concerned by the proposal to loosen the restrictions on interstate tolling,\u201d said Bill Sullivan, executive vice president for advocacy. \u00ab\u00a0In addition to being inefficient and unsafe, tolling has proven to be deeply unpopular, with states like North Carolina and Virginia abandoning interstate toll projects.
