{"id":2116,"date":"2017-03-01T21:46:31","date_gmt":"2017-03-01T21:46:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cantruck.ca\/atri-publishes-new-truck-parking-studies\/"},"modified":"2025-01-10T16:49:39","modified_gmt":"2025-01-10T16:49:39","slug":"atri-publishes-new-truck-parking-studies","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cantruck.ca\/fr\/atri-publishes-new-truck-parking-studies\/","title":{"rendered":"ATRI Publishes New Truck Parking Studies"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The American Transportation Research Institute (ATRI), which CTA is a member, posted two new truck parking studies on its website.<\/p>\n<p>The studies, completed for the Minnesota Department of Transportation and the Federal Highway Administration, examine the lack of truck parking as well as new approaches for identifying available truck parking capacity.<\/p>\n<p>In the first, \u201cUtilizing Truck GPS Data to Assess Parking Supply and Demand,\u201d ATRI presents a technical analysis that utilizes truck GPS data to assess truck parking capacity at four Minnesota rest areas. This first-of-its-kind research assessed truck parking supply and demand by time-of-day and day-of-week by cross-referencing truck GPS data to identify truck activity at several state-run rest stops.<\/p>\n<p>The second, \u201cA Comprehensive System for Assessing Truck Parking Availability\u201d details a field test conducted by ATRI and the University of Minnesota to deliver real-time truck parking information to commercial drivers through three separate delivery systems: 1) Roadside Changeable Message Signs (CMS); 2) an Internet\/Website information portal; and 3) through in-cab communication systems.<\/p>\n<p>Both studies successfully demonstrated new approaches for identifying where additional truck capacity is needed and how delivering real-time information on parking availability to commercial drivers can improve their operational efficiency.<\/p>\n<p>The reports are available from ATRI at <a href=\"http:\/\/atri-online.org\/\">www.atri-online.org<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The American Transportation Research Institute (ATRI), which CTA is a member, posted two new truck parking studies on its website.
