The news was first reported by Business Insider.<\/p>\n<p>Analysts said if the service works for Amazon, the company\u2019s next step could be to make it available for a fee to non-Amazon shippers as an easy-to-use option for business-to-business freight shipping.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is the next piece in the jigsaw puzzle,\u201d said Cathy Roberson, a shipping industry analyst. \u201cIt\u2019s all falling into place for Amazon as a logistics provider.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Late last year, Amazon announced a plan to roll out <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.wsj.com\/digits\/2015\/12\/04\/amazon-buys-semi-truck-fleet-to-deliver-packages\">thousands of branded semi-trucks<\/a> to help shuttle inventory between its facilities.<\/p>\n<p>For Amazon, bringing freight-brokerage in-house and giving it the company\u2019s signature tech-friendly functionality would allow the company to drive more volume toward its own cargo-handling arm and offer excess space to other shippers\u2014a potential new revenue stream that would trim the cost of the operation, analysts say.<\/p>\n<p>A spokeswoman for Amazon declined to comment.<\/p>\n<p>Read full <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/amazon-looks-to-develop-an-uber-like-app-for-booking-truck-freight-1481925544\">WSJ story here<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Amazon.com is reportedly developing\u00a0mobile\u00a0technology so it can schedule and track truck shipments of its products with a few taps or clicks.
