CTA Chairman Gene Orlick\u00a0 accepted a commemorative plaque from Canadian Red Cross senior director of Philanthropy, Susan Larkin, to recognize the key role played by many CTA carriers during the Red Cross\u2019 response to the devastating Alberta fires this spring.<\/p>\n

Orlick was visiting Toronto for the OTA\u2019s 90th<\/sup> executive conference last week when he was presented with the plaque on behalf of CTA motor carriers.<\/p>\n

Wildfires \u00a0in the Fort McMurray region forced 90,000 Albertans from their homes, becoming the costliest disaster in Canada\u2019s history.\u00a0In addition to financial donations, many CTA carriers donated trucking services to ensure that cots, blankets, bottled water, and cleaning supplies reached affected families.<\/p>\n

On hand for the presentation was Pete Dalmazzi, founder of non-profit organization Trucks For Change Network<\/a>, which worked with carriers and Red Cross logistics specialists to coordinate many of the intraprovincial material shipments.<\/p>\n
