{"id":2042,"date":"2016-11-10T13:41:47","date_gmt":"2016-11-10T13:41:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cantruck.ca\/bisons-jack-fielding-named-canadas-top-trucker\/"},"modified":"2025-01-10T16:49:56","modified_gmt":"2025-01-10T16:49:56","slug":"bisons-jack-fielding-named-canadas-top-trucker","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cantruck.ca\/fr\/bisons-jack-fielding-named-canadas-top-trucker\/","title":{"rendered":"Bison\u2019s Jack Fielding Named Canada\u2019s Top Trucker"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A year after being named the top truck driver in Ontario, Bison Transport\u2019s Jack Fielding notched the title of National Truck Driver of the Year.<\/p>\n<p>The award, established by the Canadian Trucking Alliance and sponsored by Volvo Trucks Canada, is the highest honour bestowed upon a truck driver in Canada who has maintained a collision-free driving record and demonstrated exemplary professionalism both on and off the road.<\/p>\n<p>The National Truck Driver of the Year is selected among all of the previous year\u2019s provincial Driver of the Year recipients by a panel of judges made up of representatives from Transport Canada, the Traffic Industry Research Foundation and the\u00a0 Canada Safety Council. This is the <a href=\"http:\/\/ontruck.org\/belleville-trucker-notches-a-brace-with-national-driver-of-the-year-title\/\">second consecutive year<\/a> the OTA nominee was crowned with the national title.<\/p>\n<p>Fielding \u2013 a truckload operator for Bison over the last 18 years \u2013 was handed the award during the opening breakfast at the OTA\u2019s 90<sup>th<\/sup> annual executive conference in Toronto.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cJack is the kind of driver other new drivers entering the industry should try to emulate,\u201d says Peter Currie, Ontario district manager, Volvo Trucks Canada. \u201cIt\u2019s no surprise that he followed up last year\u2019s honour with this national award. He goes about every day with professionalism and class.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Described by his employer as a \u201cmodest guy, whose actions on and off the road speaks volumes,\u201d Fielding has amassed over 3 million collision-free km throughout his 40-year career.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cJack is the kind of driver we\u2019d like to clone,\u201d says Norm Sneyd, Bison\u2019s VP of Business Development. \u201cWhen we have a special situation that requires immediate attention \u2013 something that requires the Fielding touch \u2013 we bring Jack in and he gets it done every time.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Jack has been a loyal driver for nearly two decades as well as an in-house driver-trainer\/mentor to new drivers at Bison.
