{"id":1920,"date":"2016-03-28T17:06:53","date_gmt":"2016-03-28T17:06:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cantruck.ca\/epa-phase-2-rules-likely-to-include-glider-kits\/"},"modified":"2025-01-10T16:50:22","modified_gmt":"2025-01-10T16:50:22","slug":"epa-phase-2-rules-likely-to-include-glider-kits","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cantruck.ca\/fr\/epa-phase-2-rules-likely-to-include-glider-kits\/","title":{"rendered":"EPA Phase 2 Rules Likely To Include Glider Kits"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It\u2019s been well known that trailers will be included in the EPA\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/cantruck.ca\/epa-nhtsa-unveil-proposal-for-phase-2-of-ghg-truck-rule\/\" target=\"_blank\">Phase 2GHG\/MPG mandate<\/a>, and a recent \u201cNotice of Data Availability\u201d on the proposed rule also points to tractor glider kits falling under the rule.<\/p>\n<p>Directed at those choosing to provide comment on the proposed rule, the agencies said that new \u201cdata and memoranda\u201d has been placed in the Phase 2 rulemaking\u2019s public docket, according to Heavy Duty Trucking.<\/p>\n<p>The updated information touches on a range of elements of the proposal, including the \u201capplicability of emission standards and certification responsibilities for trailers, glider vehicles, and glider kits.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In a separate development, EPA has produced a \u201cdraft memorandum\u201d that affirms its authority to regulate manufacturers of trailers and of glider kits concerning GHG emission limits, according to a recent Transport Topics news story.<\/p>\n<p>The federal proposal calls for setting CO2 limits for 2021- to 2027-model trucks and tractors and 2018- to 2027-model-year trailers as entire vehicles \u2013 but also would set separate engine fuel-efficiency standards for light-, medium-, and heavy-duty vehicles.<\/p>\n<p>The new standards would regulate trailers for the first time\u00a0and would make glider kits be subject to GHG limits.
