{"id":1867,"date":"2015-12-18T21:05:57","date_gmt":"2015-12-18T21:05:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cantruck.ca\/uscbp-abandons-requirement-for-manifest-and-entry-for-residue\/"},"modified":"2025-01-10T16:51:21","modified_gmt":"2025-01-10T16:51:21","slug":"uscbp-abandons-requirement-for-manifest-and-entry-for-residue","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cantruck.ca\/fr\/uscbp-abandons-requirement-for-manifest-and-entry-for-residue\/","title":{"rendered":"USCBP Abandons Requirement for Manifest and Entry for Residue"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>For nearly 10 years the Canadian Trucking Alliance has been advocating on behalf of carriers for USCBP to reconsider their intent to require a manifest and entry for residue.<\/p>\n<p>As reported by National Tank Truck Carriers, it appears that the work of NTTC, CTA and ATA has paid off and CBP has finally abandoned the idea of <a href=\"http:\/\/member.ontruck.org\/imispublic\/Home\/AM\/ContentManagerNet\/ContentDisplay.aspx?Section=Home&amp;ContentID=11232\">requiring<\/a> all empty tanker trucks, ISO 20-foot tanks, rail tanks and large bulk carriers to provide a manifest and file a customs entry for all cargo residues entering the United States. Prior to this proposal, cargo residue exempted from manifest and entry requirements.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this week, a legislative ban on imposing duties on residue reimported into the U.S. in tank vehicles was announced.\u00a0 According to NTTC \u201cUpon the President&rsquo;s expected signature, this ban will officially end the residue saga that would have caused severe disruption to cross-border operations.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>After many starts, stops and <a href=\"http:\/\/member.ontruck.org\/imispublic\/Home\/AM\/ContentManagerNet\/ContentDisplay.aspx?Section=Home&amp;ContentID=11557\">postponements<\/a>, the impact to carriers is that rather than continuing to kick the controversial rule down the road indefinitely, US authorities have finally agreed not to finalize the rule at all.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>For nearly 10 years the Canadian Trucking Alliance has been advocating on behalf of carriers for USCBP to reconsider their intent to require a manifest and entry for residue.
