Scott Darling, acting administrator for the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration<\/a> (FMCSA), said the agency\u2019s long awaited final rule mandating electronic logging devices is in the \u201cfinal stages\u201d and should be \u201cout in the next several months.\u201d<\/p>\n

Review of the rule is being wrapped by the Office of Management and Budget (OMB).<\/p>\n

In a speech given at the American Trucking Associations (ATA) annual Management Conference & Exhibition (MC&E), Darling also called upon the industry to assist regulators in weeding out \u201cunsafe\u201d operators.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe need to do everything we can to take unsafe carriers and drivers off the road,\u201d he stressed. \u201cThey hurt our industry and our economy.\u201d<\/p>\n

As reported by Fleet Owner, Darling expects FMCSA to form more partnerships with a variety of industry \u201cstakeholders\u201d in the year ahead to keep improving the safety profile of the trucking industry.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
