{"id":1816,"date":"2015-09-22T18:00:34","date_gmt":"2015-09-22T18:00:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cantruck.ca\/atri-examines-truck-driver-views-on-critical-truck-parking-issues\/"},"modified":"2025-01-10T16:51:30","modified_gmt":"2025-01-10T16:51:30","slug":"atri-examines-truck-driver-views-on-critical-truck-parking-issues","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cantruck.ca\/fr\/atri-examines-truck-driver-views-on-critical-truck-parking-issues\/","title":{"rendered":"ATRI Examines Truck Driver Views On Critical Truck Parking Issues"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Nearly half of commercial vehicle drivers would refuse to pay for reserved parking, according to the American Transportation Research Institute (ATRI), which just released the results of its Commercial Driver Perspectives on Truck Parking survey.<\/p>\n<p>The survey \u2013 the first in a series of technical memoranda focused on critical truck parking issues \u2013 collected information from truck drivers on the use of private versus public rest stops, preferred locations for reserved parking, and the value of reserved truck parking. More than 1,400 surveys were collected by ATRI.<\/p>\n<p>The survey also found that if such a system were to be used, reservation parking systems near large metropolitan areas would have the highest utility.<\/p>\n<p>However, a \u00a0clear disconnect exists between drivers&rsquo; interest in parking reservation systems and their willingness to pay for parking reservations.<\/p>\n<p>\u00ab\u00a0Understanding the expectations of trucking companies and professional drivers is of critical importance to truck stop operators,\u00a0\u00bb said Lisa Mullings, President &amp; CEO of NATSO, the association representing truck stops.\u00a0\u00ab\u00a0ATRI&rsquo;s analysis will provide important guidance to truck stops as they work to meet their customers&rsquo; operational and safety needs.\u00a0\u00bb<\/p>\n<p>ATRI&rsquo;s Managing Critical Truck Parking initiative was driven by the selection of truck parking as one of the top priority research topics for 2015 by ATRI&rsquo;s Research Advisory Committee.<\/p>\n<p>Subsequent tasks in the Managing Critical Truck Parking initiative include:\u00a0 synthesizing ATRI survey data with FHWA&rsquo;s newly released <a href=\"http:\/\/ontruck.org\/new-us-coalition-hopes-to-unlock-truck-parking-solutions\/\">Jason&rsquo;s Law<\/a> report;
