You don\u2019t have to be Don Cherry or a 1990\u2019s grunge rocker from Seattle to pull off plaid. In advance of Father\u2019s Day, join the legion of Canadians, including at least one CTA member carrier, who will be Wearing Plaid for Dad on June 19.<\/p>\n

Leading up to Father\u2019s Day, a time when the focus is already on men and families, Prostate Cancer Canada\u00a0 has launched Wear Plaid for Dad<\/a> \u2013 a new and fun campaign to raise awareness and funds to help protect men from prostate cancer, which is the most common cancer affecting men. In fact, one in eight men \u2013 dads, husbands, brothers, sons and grandfathers \u2013 will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime.<\/p>\n

Board member James Steed of Steed Standard Transport, whose father battled prostate cancer, has already gotten involved by raising funds and donating a trailer with Prostate Cancer Canada\u2019s logo. He\u2019s now challenging his fellow CTA members and the Canadian trucking industry at-large to do the same for this important cause. He says that the construction, legal and other industries were well represented at the campaign launch earlier this month and it\u2019s time trucking stepped up to show Canadians just how influential and charitable we are.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am James Steed and I accept the challenge and will be wearing plaid on June 19 to raise awareness for Prostate Cancer,\u201d he announced. \u201cWe encourage you to wear plaid for dad as well and challenge your industry competitors and anyone else you wish.\u201d<\/p>\n

Check out the attached brochure or go to Wear Plaid for Dad<\/a> for ideas on how your company can get involved in the campaign, which is being led by Vice Admiral Mark Norman, among other notable Canadians. You can donate, organize a workplace event and encourage employee engagement, or launch a social media campaign through your business network (#WearPlaidforDad) <\/strong>etc. At the very least, encourage employees and colleagues to wear plaid\u00a0 on June 19 \u2013 whether it\u2019s a shirt, a tie, a scarf, or even a suit \u2013 if it\u2019s plaid it\u2019ll work!<\/p>\n
