{"id":1701,"date":"2015-02-24T20:42:44","date_gmt":"2015-02-24T20:42:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cantruck.ca\/industry-insiders-say-driver-pay-to-keep-climbing\/"},"modified":"2025-01-10T16:51:54","modified_gmt":"2025-01-10T16:51:54","slug":"industry-insiders-say-driver-pay-to-keep-climbing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cantruck.ca\/fr\/industry-insiders-say-driver-pay-to-keep-climbing\/","title":{"rendered":"Industry Insiders Say Driver Pay to Keep Climbing"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The accelerating pace of truckload driver pay increases in 2014 won\u2019t let up this year in the midst of a driver shortage, and probably beyond, several industry executives predicted at the BB&amp;T Capital Markets transportation conference last month.<\/p>\n<p>As reported in the latest issue of <a href=\"www.ttnews.com\" target=\"_blank\"><em>Transport Topics<\/em><\/a>, Richard Stocking, president of Swift Transportation, said after the carrier\u2019s highest-ever wage increases last year, he still expects more raises for professional drivers in the future.<\/p>\n<p>Stocking\u00a0 said the wage increase helped to attract drivers and slow down Swift\u2019s turnover.<\/p>\n<p>According to <em>TT<\/em>, Knight Transportation rolled out several rounds of pay increases \u2013 totaling double digits \u2013 to attract enough drivers to boost its fleet size. Even still, CEO David Jackson said the company still has its \u201cwork cut out \u201c to keep growing the fleet.<\/p>\n<p>In most recent business expectations surveys, including those conducted by both the American Trucking Associations and the Ontario Trucking Association, a majority of carriers say they <a href=\"http:\/\/ontruck.org\/truck-carriers-voice-sustained-optimism-in-freight-market\/\">foresee continued increases<\/a> for both drivers and owner-operators.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAll fleets believe that they\u2019ll need to duplicate the larger driver-pay increases, not only again in 2015 but likely again in 2016 and 2017,\u201d Thom Albrecht, an analyst at BB&amp;T, wrote in a report.<\/p>\n<p>A report from Stifel, Nicolaus &amp;
