
The CEO of Canada’s largest trucking company says the carrier is not being severely affected by the cross-border vaccine mandate as most of its drivers are vaccinated.
“Vaccination at TFI is not an issue at all,” TFI International Inc. chairman and CEO Alain Bedard told analysts on a conference call this week, adding the few unvaccinated drivers it employs are being put on domestic Canadian lanes.
He said the biggest issue for the company is employees, mainly in the U.S., who are getting sick with COVID.
Amid heightened demand for goods and materials during the COVID-19 pandemic, TFI reported that profits shot up to $144.1 million US in the quarter ended Dec. 31
The trucking sector continues to face hurdles including a dire labour shortage, but surging demand for consumer items, raw materials and manufacturing components has fuelled growth across the industry.
