RIP: Michael Ham – Help Celebrate the Life of a Great Man

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Michael Ham. On behalf of the Canadian Trucking Alliance, we wish to send our condolences to the Ham family.

Michael represented everything that is good in our industry – hard work, loyalty, integrity and an unwavering commitment to making the trucking industry better for everyone who works in it. These attributes were publicly recognized by the industry in 2018 when Michael was named the 2018 Omnitracs-Ontario Trucking Association Service to Industry Award – the industry’s highest individual honour – a commemorative video of his career and life was played for his peers.

As a result of the COVID-19 crisis, a Memorial Mass and Celebration of his Life will be held at a later date. However, to honour Michael more immediately, the Ham family is asking friends and family to participate in a “Cheers to Mike Ham” moment that can be shared through social media AFTER 7:00 pm on March 28.

“In light of the pandemic, we are unable to gather as one and truly celebrate Mike’s passing. As a family, we would like to invite you to raise your glass in honour of Mike’s life. At 7:00 pm on Saturday, March 28, 2020 we will take a moment to toast a beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend. Please take a picture of you and your loved ones sharing a drink in honour of Mike. We ask that you send us your pictures so we can incorporate them into our Celebration of Life at a later date. Please pass this message along so all of Mike’s friends and family can cherish the memories.”

At 7:00 pm on Sat. March 28, 2020, snap a picture or take a short video cheering Mike and upload it to Twitter using the hashtag #CheerstoMikeHam and tag @cantruck.

Let’s all keep Michael and his family in our prayers.
